Evidence Level: Level 3 – Hands-on Experience

My realme C100i hands-on experience began with a visit to the realme Concept Store in SM Bacoor, where I explored the phone to understand what buyers are really getting before spending their hard-earned money.

Buying the right smartphone has never been more difficult.

Every new release promises a better camera, a bigger battery, faster performance, and features that sound almost too good to be true—especially in the budget smartphone category.

The realme C100i is one of those phones.

With official prices of ₱11,999 for the 128GB variant and ₱13,999 for the 256GB model—and promotional prices of just ₱9,999 and ₱11,999 during my visit—the realme C100i immediately stood out as one of the more interesting budget smartphones I had seen in a while. Its large battery and expandable storage caught my attention, but I wanted to find out whether those features translated into real value for buyers or were simply impressive numbers on a specification sheet.

That’s exactly why I visited the realme Concept Store at SM Bacoor.

Not to repeat marketing claims.

Not to read specifications you can already find online.

But to see whether the realme C100i offers real value beyond the marketing materials.

If you’re considering the realme C100i, this realme C100i hands-on buying guide will walk you through ten things you should know before making your decision.

Quick VerdictThe realme C100i offers an interesting combination of features for its price. While a short hands-on experience isn’t enough to judge long-term performance, it was enough to understand why this phone deserves a closer look before making a buying decision.

Before You Read

Before we dive into the details, I want to explain how this article was written.

This isn’t based on weeks of ownership.

It isn’t based on battery drain tests.

It isn’t based on gaming benchmarks.

And it definitely isn’t based on reading a specification sheet.

Everything you’re about to read comes from my visit to the realme Concept Store at SM Bacoor, where I explored the realme C100i, examined its hardware, discussed its features with a store representative, and learned more about its pricing and available purchase options.

Whenever I share an observation, I’ll clearly distinguish between what I personally experienced and information that was presented during the in-store demonstration.

I’d rather tell you what I haven’t tested than pretend I tested everything.

That’s how I believe trust is built.

After all, buying the right technology is more important than buying the newest technology.

The Buying Story

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting the realme C100i to surprise me.

I already planned to visit the realme Concept Store at SM Bacoor to create a hands-on video.

The goal was simple.

Take a closer look at the phone, ask a few questions, capture some footage, and move on.

After all, every new smartphone promises bigger batteries, better cameras, and more features than the last.

Then one feature immediately caught my attention.

As I started talking to the store representative, my first question was straightforward.

“Meron na ba kayong pinaka-bagong realme?”

The answer led me to the realme C100i.

As we went through its features, one specification immediately caught my attention.

Expandable storage of up to 2TB.

Honestly, my first reaction was, “Hindi nga.”

Not because I didn’t believe the staff, but because it’s not something I normally expect from a budget smartphone in this price range.

The more I learned about it, the more interesting it became.

I’m currently using a smartphone that costs around ₱28,000, and even that only comes with 256GB of internal storage.

Hearing that a phone starting at ₱9,999 supports up to 2TB of expandable storage immediately made me stop and ask more questions.

As someone who regularly shoots photos, records videos, and stores large media files, storage isn’t just another specification.

It’s something I think about almost every day.

That doesn’t automatically make the realme C100i the right phone for everyone.

But it did convince me that it deserved a closer look.

10 Things You Should Know Before Buying

After spending time with the realme C100i at the realme Concept Store in SM Bacoor, these are the ten things I believe every buyer should know before making a decision.

Some of them surprised me.

Others reminded me that specifications don’t always tell the whole story.

More importantly, each one helped me understand who this phone is really for—and who may want to consider other options.

1. The Expandable Storage Was the First Feature That Made Me Stop and Ask Questions

The first feature that genuinely made me stop and ask more questions wasn’t the camera.

It wasn’t the battery either.

It was the expandable storage.

When the store representative told me that the realme C100i supports expandable storage using a compatible microSD card, my first reaction was simple.

“Hindi nga.”

Not because I doubted what I heard, but because it’s not something I normally expect from a smartphone in this price range.

As someone who creates content almost every day, storage isn’t just another specification on a marketing poster.

I record videos, take thousands of photos, and keep old footage because something I capture today could become useful months or even years later.

I’ve learned that the hard way.

There have been times when I thought my phone was still recording, only to realize later that it had already run out of storage.

Moments like that can’t always be recreated.

That’s why expandable storage immediately mattered to me.

I also asked whether the more affordable variant supports the same expandable storage feature.

According to the store representative, it does.

That made the feature even more interesting because buyers don’t necessarily have to spend more money just to have the flexibility of adding more storage later.

Of course, this feature won’t matter to everyone.

If you mainly use your phone for messaging, social media, web browsing, and a few everyday apps, the built-in storage may already be enough.

But if you’re a content creator, photographer, vlogger, traveler, freelancer, or someone who simply doesn’t like deleting old memories, expandable storage can make a much bigger difference than you might expect.

For me, this wasn’t just another specification.

It was the feature that convinced me to slow down, ask more questions, and seriously consider what the realme C100i offers at this price.

2. The Large Battery Immediately Made Sense for the Way I Use My Phone

The next feature that immediately caught my attention was the battery.

During my visit, the store representative shared that the realme C100i comes with a 7,000mAh battery and mentioned that it can last for almost two days depending on how it’s used.

I wasn’t able to verify that claim myself during my hands-on experience, but hearing that immediately caught my attention because battery life is one of the first things I consider when choosing a smartphone.

As someone who regularly covers events, records videos, takes photos, and creates content throughout the day, a dependable battery isn’t just convenient.

It can be the difference between finishing a shoot and missing an important moment because your phone runs out of power.

The longer my phone stays powered, the less I have to worry about bringing a power bank or searching for the nearest charging outlet.

That’s one less distraction while working.

If you’re a content creator, student, traveler, delivery rider, or someone who spends long hours away from home, a large battery is a feature you’ll likely appreciate.

On the other hand, if you mostly use your phone for light browsing, messaging, and you’re almost always near a charger, battery capacity may not be the deciding factor for you.

For me, the large battery wasn’t just another number on the specification sheet.

It was another reason why the realme C100i deserved a closer look.

3. The 50MP Main Camera Immediately Caught My Attention

One of the first questions I asked at the store was about the camera.

For me, the main camera is one of the most important parts of any smartphone because it’s what I use to capture moments, create content, and document experiences.

When the store representative told me that the realme C100i comes with a 50MP AI main camera, I was pleasantly surprised.

At this price point, I wasn’t expecting to hear that specification.

Of course, megapixels don’t automatically guarantee better image quality.

Lighting, image processing, and software all play a big role in the final result.

That’s why I don’t judge a camera based on specifications alone.

Since this article is based on a hands-on experience, I wasn’t able to perform a full camera comparison or long-term camera test.

However, if photography is one of your top priorities, the 50MP AI main camera is definitely one of the features worth exploring further before making your final buying decision.

For me, the camera wasn’t the biggest surprise of the realme C100i.

But it was another feature that made the phone more interesting than I initially expected.

4. The Price Made Me Look Twice

One of the biggest reasons the realme C100i caught my attention wasn’t just because of its features.

It was because of its price.

During my visit, the store representative explained that the 128GB variant was available for ₱9,999 as part of a promotional offer at the time.

Considering the features that were demonstrated—including expandable storage support, a large battery, and a 50MP AI main camera—it immediately made me wonder how realme managed to fit all of those into a smartphone at this price.

Of course, price alone should never be the reason to buy a smartphone.

A cheaper phone isn’t automatically a better value if it doesn’t meet your needs.

That’s why I always encourage buyers to look beyond the price tag and ask a more important question:

“What am I actually getting for my money?”

For budget-conscious buyers, students, parents buying a phone for their children, or anyone trying to maximize every peso, the realme C100i is worth taking a closer look at.

For me, the price wasn’t just attractive.

It was another reason why I wanted to keep asking questions instead of making assumptions.

5. Financing Can Be Just as Important as the Price

One thing I appreciated during my visit was learning that buying the realme C100i isn’t limited to paying the full amount in cash.

When I jokingly told the store representative that I didn’t have enough money with me, she explained that there are financing options available for qualified buyers.

For many Filipinos, that’s an important part of the buying decision.

Sometimes it’s not about whether you can afford the phone today.

It’s about whether the payment options fit your budget.

Of course, financing should always be used responsibly.

Monthly payments can make a smartphone more accessible, but buyers should still make sure the total cost fits comfortably within their budget.

I also like that the store representative presented financing as another option instead of pressuring me to make a purchase.

That made the conversation feel more helpful than sales-driven.

If you’re planning to buy your next smartphone on installment, I recommend asking the store about the latest financing partners, requirements, and ongoing promotions, since these can change over time.

For me, flexible payment options don’t make a phone better.

But they can make buying the right phone more realistic for many people.

6. Durability Was Another Feature Worth Asking About

A smartphone isn’t just an investment.

It’s also something most people carry every single day.

That means accidental drops, bumps, and unexpected rain are part of real life.

During my visit, I asked about the durability of the realme C100i.

The store representative shared that the phone features military-grade durability and is designed to handle everyday use with added confidence.

While I didn’t perform any drop tests or durability tests myself, it was reassuring to know that durability was something realme considered when designing the phone.

As someone who covers events and often moves from one location to another, I know how easy it is for a phone to be dropped or exposed to less-than-ideal conditions.

No smartphone is indestructible, but having extra durability can provide additional peace of mind.

If you’re a student, commuter, delivery rider, traveler, or someone who’s always on the go, durability is a feature that’s easy to overlook until the day you actually need it.

For me, durability isn’t the reason I’d buy a smartphone.

But it’s definitely one of the reasons I’d feel more confident carrying it every day.

7. It Can Handle Casual Gaming—But Know What to Expect

Gaming wasn’t the first thing I looked for when I explored the realme C100i.

Still, I knew many buyers would eventually ask the same question.

“Okay ba ito sa gaming?”

During my visit, the store representative shared that the realme C100i is capable of running popular games such as Mobile Legends and Roblox.

For many buyers, that’s already enough.

Not everyone is looking for a flagship gaming phone.

Many people simply want a smartphone that can handle casual gaming after school, during breaks, or while relaxing at home.

Since I wasn’t able to perform my own gaming benchmarks or extended gameplay tests during my hands-on experience, I can’t comment on frame rates, thermal performance, or long gaming sessions.

Those are things that require a full review.

However, based on what was demonstrated during my visit, the realme C100i appears to be positioned as a smartphone for everyday users who also enjoy casual gaming from time to time.

If you’re expecting maximum graphics settings for demanding games, you may want to explore higher-end devices.

But if your goal is to enjoy popular mobile games without spending significantly more, this is one feature worth exploring further before making your final buying decision.

8. Don’t Overlook What’s Included in the Box

Sometimes, the accessories included with a smartphone can save buyers from spending even more after they leave the store.

During my visit, the store representative showed me that the realme C100i comes with a protective jelly case and a pre-applied screen protector.

They may seem like small additions, but they’re practical items that many buyers would purchase separately.

For first-time smartphone owners or anyone shopping on a tight budget, having these accessories included means you can start using the phone with a little more protection right out of the box.

Of course, I still recommend investing in a higher-quality case if you know you’ll be using your phone in more demanding environments.

However, it’s nice to see that buyers don’t immediately have to spend extra money on basic protection.

For me, these accessories didn’t influence my buying decision on their own.

But they added a little more value to an already interesting package.

9. I Think I Know Who This Phone Is Really For

After spending time with the realme C100i and talking with the store representative, I started to see the type of buyer this phone is designed for.

I think this smartphone makes the most sense for people who want practical features without spending flagship-level money.

That includes students looking for their first smartphone, parents buying a phone for their children, content creators who need expandable storage for photos and videos, travelers who value a large battery, freelancers who rely on their phone throughout the day, and everyday users who simply want good value for their budget.

At the same time, I don’t think this phone is for everyone.

If your top priority is flagship-level photography, intensive gaming, or the highest possible performance, you may want to consider smartphones from a higher price category.

For me, the realme C100i isn’t trying to compete with flagship devices.

Instead, it’s trying to give budget-conscious buyers the features that matter most in everyday use.

Understanding that made me appreciate the phone even more.

10. Would I Personally Consider Buying It?

After spending time with the realme C100i at the realme Concept Store in SM Bacoor, I walked away with a much better understanding of what this smartphone is trying to achieve.

No, it’s not trying to compete with flagship smartphones that cost two or three times more.

Instead, it’s focused on offering practical features that many everyday buyers actually care about.

What impressed me wasn’t just one specification.

It was how several useful features came together at a price that’s accessible to more people.

Expandable storage immediately caught my attention because I constantly deal with large video files and photos.

The large battery made sense for the way I work and create content throughout the day.

The camera, financing options, included accessories, and overall value made the package even more interesting.

If someone asked me whether the realme C100i deserves a place on their shortlist, my answer would be simple.

Yes—but only if it matches the way you actually use a smartphone.

Buying the right phone isn’t about choosing the one with the longest specification sheet.

It’s about choosing the one that solves your everyday needs.

If someone gave me a budget of around ₱10,000 today, I would seriously consider putting the realme C100i on my shortlist—not because of one impressive feature, but because of the overall value it appears to offer based on my hands-on experience.

Of course, this isn’t a long-term review.

It’s a buying guide based on my personal hands-on experience, and I always encourage buyers to spend time with the phone themselves before making a final decision.

What I Couldn’t Verify During My Hands-on Experience

One of the promises I made at the beginning of this article was that I would clearly separate what I personally experienced from what I wasn’t able to verify.

Since this was a hands-on experience at the realme Concept Store in SM Bacoor rather than a long-term review, there are several things I couldn’t honestly evaluate.

These include:

  • Real-world battery life over several days of use
  • Long-term camera performance in different lighting conditions
  • Gaming performance during extended play sessions
  • Software stability after weeks or months of use
  • Long-term durability after accidental drops and everyday wear
  • The overall experience after receiving future software updates

I believe it’s more helpful to be transparent about these limitations than to pretend I tested something I didn’t.

If I eventually spend more time with the realme C100i, I’ll update this article with additional observations based on real-world use.

What Surprised Me Most

Going into the realme Concept Store, I expected to see another budget smartphone competing on price alone.

Instead, I found a smartphone that made me stop, ask questions, and rethink what buyers can expect in this price category.

The biggest surprise wasn’t just the 2TB expandable storage.

It was how several practical features came together in a way that made sense for everyday users.

The large battery, expandable storage, financing options, included accessories, and competitive pricing all contributed to an experience that was better than I initially expected.

More importantly, the experience reminded me that buying a smartphone isn’t about chasing the highest specifications.

It’s about finding the device that fits your lifestyle, your budget, and the way you actually use technology every day.

That’s exactly why I visited the realme Concept Store in the first place.

Not to convince myself to buy a phone.

But to help buyers make a smarter decision before spending their hard-earned money.

The AA Tech Hunter Buying Verdict

The realme C100i didn’t impress me because it tried to be everything.

This realme C100i hands-on experience showed me that practical features can matter more than an impressive specification sheet.

It impressed me because it focused on the features that many budget-conscious buyers actually care about.

During my hands-on experience, expandable storage, the large battery, practical accessories, financing options, and competitive pricing stood out the most.

Of course, this isn’t a substitute for a long-term review.

There are still questions that can only be answered after weeks or months of real-world use.

However, based on what I personally experienced at the realme Concept Store in SM Bacoor, I believe the realme C100i deserves a place on the shortlist of anyone looking for a budget smartphone around the ₱10,000 price range.

As always, my goal isn’t to tell you what to buy.

My goal is to help you understand whether this is the right technology for your needs before you spend your hard-earned money.

Because buying the right technology is always more important than simply buying the newest one.

If you’ve read this far, I hope this realme C100i hands-on experience has helped you better understand what the phone offers and whether it deserves a place on your shortlist.
